Meet Daniel Noltemeyer, (2nd from left)
The first thing you notice about Daniel Noltemeyer is his ever present smile. Even before he had braces and began sporting one of Perelmuter & Goldberg’s famous “greater smiles,” Daniel has been flashing that charming grin since he was just a few months old. And as an Ambassador for Best Buddies Kentucky and UofL’s Best Buddies Director, he puts it to use for a very good cause.
“As a Buddy Ambassador I travel around the country and tell others about my experiences,” said Daniel. “I meet a lot of great people at my speaking engagements, but I still get a little nervous sometimes. I just focus on smiling and reading my speech—and hope my knees don’t shake!”

Best Buddies Kentucky is a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment, and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Daniel was recently invited to Washington D.C. by Anthony Kennedy Shriver, founder and Chairman of Best Buddies International.
“It was a great trip,” said Daniel. “I met a lot of cool people. And on my way back, at the airport I saw Dr. Perelmuter! He called out for me across the hallway!”
When asked about the time he’s spent with Dr. Perelmuter there’s an unmistakable twinkle in his eye.

“I can’t say enough about Dr. Perelmuter,” Daniel said. “He’s friendly, has a great sense of humor. He’ kind. He really helped me build up my confidence. Not just by straightening my teeth, but by offering me support in my life. I love the guy.”

Between his speaking engagements Daniel spends a lot of time with his Best Buddy Taylor. They go to movies, sporting events, and even a few concerts. “Taylor really likes Tim McGraw so we went and saw him in concert,” Daniel said. “He really puts on a great show.”
When he’s not volunteering his time to Best Buddies, Daniel works as a file clerk at both Ceridian Time & Attendance and a local pediatrician’s office. He’s also into dancing, singing, playing softball and baseball, and staying involved in any way he can.

“I like to stay busy,” he said.
I work hard and always
try to believe in myself.
I hope I encourage
others to do the same.
